During all these days Gandhi was kept informed by the Congress President Subhash Chandra Bose about the discussions that took place between him and Jinnah to settle communal differences, and Gandhi consulted other leaders also. Jinnah presented a list of demands on behalf of the Muslims, one of which was that Congress should accept the position that the Muslim League alone could speak on behalf on Muslims. Bose put forth counter proposal. Jinnah wanted time to consult his colleagues. Discussion was postponed.
