Activities
Gandhi Smarak Nidhi
is engaged in
various Gandhian Constructive Activities.
National
Week is celebrated every year
from 6th to 13 April. During this week, it conducts seminars on Communal
Harmony, Craft Exhibition & Mela for Balwadi Children & Charkha Classes.
Youth
Camps are held in April & May for girls & boys for introducing them to
Gandhian Thought and for inculcating a spirit of Peace, Love and Brotherhood in
them at Sant Balji Jain Muni Ashram, Chinchani, Tal. Dahanu.
Kranti Din. 9th August is celebrated as
Kranti Din, to mark the Quit India Movement. Gandhi Smarak Nidhi in association
with Mumbai Sarvodaya Mandal, Gandhi Smriti and Darshan Samiti, N.S.S. units of
Govt. of Maharashtra and universities of Mumbai and S.N.D.T. organises
programmes on Quit India Movement. The function is held at August Kranti Maidan.
Gandhi
Jayanti Week. 2nd October, the birth anniversary of Gandhiji is
celebrated as Gandhi Jayanti Week. The Gandhi Smarak Nidhi, Mumbai and Mani
Bhavan Gandhi Sangrahalaya conducts the programmes of Spinning, Bhajans and
Khadi Exhibition, every year from 2nd to 8th October.
GANDHI NIRVAN DIN. On 30th January, the
death anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi is observed in Mani Bhavan with mass
spinning, prayers & Bhajans. A big Rally of students and citizens is organised.
The Rally starts from Azad Maidan and ends at Hutatma Chowk. At Hutatma Chowk
prayers of all religious (Serva Dharma Prarthana) are held and the entire
congregation takes a pledge for Peace and Communal Harmony.
On 22nd February, a death anniversary of Kasturba is observed as Kasturba Nirvan
Din.
Inter School and College Competition are
held every year from July to September. The Prize distribution function for the
winners of first and second Prize is then held in November.
The Gandhi Smarak Nidhi, Mumbai, works in collaboration with several Gandhian
organization including Mani Bhavan Gandhi Sangrahalaya, the Bhartiya Vidya
Bhavan, Mumbai Sarvodaya Mandal, Inner Wheel Club of Mumbai and several other
women's organizations.
